I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Once again, Nicole Fox did a great job of making you feel like you were a part of the story. Tragedy, deception, suspense, violence, passion, family and loyalty are thick in this story. There were times I wanted to strangle Phoenix because he couldn’t get over things Elyssa had done in her past – she was a part of a cult and knew no better. My emotions were all over the place with this story. Phoenix is a dark, dangerous, “unfeeling” type of guy who starts to learn that asking for help is not a weakness and that things are not always as they seem. Elyssa starts out as a meek, dependent, naïve young girl and turns into a strong, feisty, take-charge woman. Phoenix and Elyssa turn into very different people throughout this ordeal.
